EDUC 290 - Fostering Literacy I: Emergent through Early (Pre-K-3) This course examines the processes of literacy development in young children including English language learners with an emphasis on strategies to foster early skills from phonemic and print awareness through comprehension. Students will explore factors influencing language and literacy acquisition, use of formal and informal assessments, and current best practices in emergent and early literacy. Students will integrate reading, writing, and children’s literature to design developmentally appropriate curriculum
Prerequisites & Notes Twenty-five hours of field experience are required.
