SOWK 108 - Introduction to Social Work This course provides an in-depth exploration of the profession of social work. This includes a survey of the variety of populations and settings in which social workers practice, as well as study of the mission, values and historical development of social work. A consideration of the issues involved in becoming a helping professional with attention to the principles and competencies of the social work practitioner will also be an integrating focus of the course.
