NURS 517 - Advanced Role of the Nurse Theoretical content related to primary care, health behavior, and the role of the nurse in advanced practice settings is presented. This course material will help to describe an integrated understanding of Advanced Practice Nursing which will provide clarity and structure for students regarding the Advanced Practice Role of the Nurse Practitioner. This course defines and strengthens the understanding of advanced practice nursing, its definitions, competencies, roles, and the issues facing advanced practice nursing. It will also address the potential opportunities and strategies to assist advanced practice nurses to take advantage of the uncertainty and complexity of the health care environment and to set the stage for the exploration of new roles for advanced practice nursing.
