MA 508 - Discrete Mathematics This introduction to the mathematical theory necessary for computer science and further studies in mathematics includes logic, sets, sequences, recursion, functions and relations, modular arithmetic, combinatorics, probability and graph theory. The focus will be on the understanding of concepts and the writing of elementary proofs, including proofs by induction. The purpose and design of algorithms will be discussed.
Prerequisites & Notes Calculus II or MA 502 Linear Algebra, or permission of the department
