ED 528 - Methods and the Individual Education Plan


This course is an introduction to the legal/procedural requirements of Individualized Education Programs of students with disabilities. Participants will practice reviewing formal assessments and will conduct informal assessments in order to determine present level of performance, write effective annual goals and benchmarks, and plan effective IEP’s. Students will be exposed to a variety of methods and effective strategies used to teach students with disabilities basic academic skills, content area skills, and social/behavioral skills. Methods of adapting and modifying curriculum will be covered. Students will be responsible for providing 25 hours of tutoring to a student with special needs in order to practice writing lesson plans and to monitor progress on an ongoing basis.
