ED 521 - Process of Writing

Students examine writing and writing instruction as a process from idea to finished product. This course introduces strategies and skills to improve participants’ own writing and the writing of k-12 students. Using an approach for developing writing through planning, drafting, conferencing, editing, revising, and sharing, students will engage in this process as it applies to creative writing, writing to learn, and writing across the curriculum. Topics such as struggling and disengaged writers, assessment, the reading/writing connection, technology, and management of writing instruction will be explored.
