ED 517 - Language and Reading Development


Overview of language and reading development in typical and exceptional children. Examination of theory and practice in the prevention, remediation, and enhancement of reading competencies with specific attention to language, decoding, fluency, and meaning components. Topics also include: the nature of the reading process, reading and writing, and planning instruction from assessment. Twenty-five hours of observation of various special education programs is a requirement of this course.
